Maria Cole, AIA, NCARB

Maria is an award-winning architect, planner, and educator with over three decades of experience supporting institutions from early planning, big picture conceptual ideas through technical detailing and construction administration.  Her expertise is in the planning and design of spaces to support the continuum of educational (from early childhood through higher education); cultural spaces; and civic placemaking.

Transdisciplinary studies in architecture and international development have informed her approach to reimagine the intersection of culture, education, and community to meet the needs of diverse users.  The result is design aesthetic that considers the unique local character of site, place, and program to create human-centered design.

Her design success is an outcome of a synergistic working relationship with clients based on collaboration, listening, and transparent decision making that ultimately gives form to institutional goals and experiences of the building users.
